This was going to be the donor vehicle – and it did donate a few parts. Unfortunately the car was so much worse than it looks that an awful lot of it ended up at the scrap yard. Other parts ended up on the Herald.

It turned out to be a great example of the car you get home and then just can’t believe you paid money for ..…. Then, while I was hunting for the bits to mend it I found this ‘Herald’ in a scrap yard………….

It’s
a Vitesse 6 rear tub and bulkhead, which came attached to a complete rolling
MKII chassis, hood and frame, 1200 engine, Spitfire O/D gearbox plus a whole
pile of related and unrelated parts.
The tub, chassis and bulkhead needed no welding.
The Bonnet (from the red car) was another story…..

New
inner and outer wings, D-plates plus various other holes and dents to deal
with. 15 years on it’s not pretty!
Nearly there now…..

Other cars provided:
The engine (a T2000 one first, then a real Vitesse MKII one)
The gearbox – Dolomite 1850
The doors (the frames on the red car were shot)
The radiator
The bootlid
All good reasons to start with a half decent and complete car to begin with!
On the road September 1989.
